• Forest Management (FM):Comply with laws and regulations, Indigenous and community rights, workers' rights, environmental impact assessments, forest management plans, and monitoring and evaluation.
• Chain of Custody (CoC):End-to-end traceability from forest to final product, mass balance, label usage guidelines, and prevention of non-certified material mixing
• Controlled Wood:Exclude unacceptable sources such as illegal logging, violations of traditional rights and human rights, and damage to High Conservation Value Forests.
• Environmental Metrics:Biodiversity conservation, water and soil resource maintenance, carbon sequestration, and ecosystem services

Audit Process

1. Enterprises submit certification applications to FSC-accredited certification bodies.
2. Certification body conducts pre-assessment (optional) and formal audit.
3. Forest management audits include site inspections, stakeholder consultations, and review of management documentation.
4. The regulatory chain audit focuses on material flow records and the label management system.
5. FSC certification issued upon approval; authorized to use the FSC trademark.
6. Annual surveillance audits to ensure ongoing compliance with standards.

Fee Details

FSC certification costs vary by company type and size. Forest Management Certification is higher, typically ranging from RMB 50,000 to 200,000. Chain of Custody Certification is more affordable, approximately RMB 15,000 to 40,000. Additional fees include annual surveillance audits and FSC trademark licensing fees.

Accredited Institutions

FSC certification must be conducted by an accredited certification body recognized by ASI (Assurance Services International), such as SGS, Bureau Veritas, TÜV, or Rainforest Alliance.

Certificate validity period

The FSC certificate is valid for five years and requires annual surveillance audits. A full recertification audit is required upon expiration of the five-year period.
